Threefold | Deep Green Aventurine & Brass Teardrop Pendant

A threshold is never crossed in one leap. It is crossed in steps.

The stone is a deep, dark forest green, the colour of pine in late October. Aventurine is traditionally a stone of opportunity, long carried for luck and steady good fortune.

Threefold sets it in a thin copper bezel inside a brass teardrop frame, shaped and finished by hand at my bench. Along the rounded end of the frame, three small copper dots climb in a line, three marks, three steps. A decorative motif sterling silver bail holds it all steady.

Turn it over, and you will find the spiral. On the back of the brass plate, a small sterling silver coil rests beside my JN maker's mark, with the three copper dots showing through from the front.

For the woman who is crossing something, one steady step at a time.

The Magick Within

Three is the number of a crossing. The step toward, the step through, the step beyond. I set three copper dots along the frame to mark them. You do not have to leap. You only have to take the step in front of you, and then the next.

The spiral is the path of becoming. You do not return to where you began. You return at a higher turn, carrying everything you have gathered on the way around.

Deep green aventurine is traditionally associated with opportunity and heart-centred growth. This is one of the darkest stones I have set for Threshold, and I think of it as the stone of steady ground.

Copper is the metal of conduction. It carries current, warmth and intention, and here it wraps the stone and marks the steps, so that what you hope for has somewhere to move.

Brass is the earth beneath you, warm and steady, the body of the whole piece. Rooted metal for a rooted woman.

Silver is intuition, the light of the moon. It carries the pendant at the bail and coils into the spiral at the back, close to your skin, where your inner knowing lives.

I made this for the Threshold Collection, to honour the changing of the seasons. Wear it when you are standing at your own doorway, deciding what comes with you.
