The Keystone | Deep Green Aventurine & Silver Rectangle Pendant

Every doorway has a stone that holds it up.

This one is a deep, dark forest green, the colour of pine at the edge of night. Aventurine is traditionally a stone of opportunity, long carried for luck and steady good fortune.

The Keystone is a rectangle with rounded corners, set in a fine silver bezel bezel and shaped by hand at my bench with a corner sawed out to show the stone. Clusters of small silver and brass granules gather along its left side, its right side and its lower right corner, like stones set along a wall. A silver loop and ring hold it from above.

It is built like a gate: upright, steady and open to whatever comes through.

For the woman who is the strength in her own doorway.

The Magic Within

A rectangle is a doorway. A window. A gate. A block of stone laid down to stand for something. I chose it for the Threshold Collection because crossing from one season into the next asks for something solid under your feet.

Deep green aventurine is traditionally associated with opportunity and heart-centred growth. This is one of the darkest stones I have set for Threshold, and I think of it as the stone of steady ground.

Silver is intuition, the light of the moon. It holds the stone in its bezel and carries the pendant at the bail, the quiet knowing that frames what you choose.

Brass is the earth beneath you, warm and steady. The small brass granules are the warmth along the wall, rooted metal for a rooted woman.

The spiral is the path of becoming. You do not return to where you began. You return at a higher turn.

I made this for the Threshold Collection, to honour the changing of the seasons. Wear it when you are standing at your own doorway, deciding what comes with you.
