The Crowning | Deep Green Aventurine, Copper & Brass Teardrop Ring

Some rings you wear. Some you are crowned by.

The stone is a deep, dark forest green, a large teardrop with a quiet depth, the colour of pine at the end of a long day. Aventurine is traditionally a stone of opportunity, long carried for luck and steady good fortune.

The Crowning sets it in a copper crown, a ring of tiny points that I shaped and fitted by hand, resting on a brass teardrop plate. The band is open, two brass wires joined by a single small cross-bar, so it wears with ease and lets the stone take the light.

Turn it over, and you will find a small sterling silver disc with hidden spiral near the top of the plate, beside my JN maker's mark.

For the woman who wears her strength openly, and who is not waiting for permission.

The Magic Within

A crown is not a decoration. It is a sign that you hold something, and that you can be trusted to hold it.

Deep green aventurine is traditionally associated with opportunity and heart-centred growth. This is one of the darkest stones I have set for Threshold, and I think of it as the stone of steady ground.

The teardrop narrows toward the fingertip like a seed or a flame, pointing the way you are going. Worn long-ways, it draws the eye forward.

Copper is the metal of conduction. It carries current, warmth and intention, and here it crowns the stone point by point, so that what you hope for has somewhere to move.

Brass is the earth beneath it, steady and warm, the body of the whole piece. Rooted metal for a rooted woman.

Silver is intuition, the light of the moon. It rests on the back of the plate, against your skin, where your inner knowing lives.

The spiral is the path of becoming. You do not return to where you began. You return at a higher turn.

I made this for the Threshold Collection, to honour the changing of the seasons. Wear it when you are standing in the in-between, deciding what comes with you.

Care: Copper and brass develop a natural patina over time, part of their story. Polish with a clean, dry cloth if you prefer them bright. Please remove before washing hands or swimming, and keep away from lotions.
